International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research (ISPOR) comprises of professionals from different backgrounds that aims to promote the sciences of pharmacoeconomics and outcome research and facilitates the translation of these research into useful information for health care decision makers to ensure that society allocates scarce health care resources wisely, fairly and efficiently.

ISPOR Nigerian chapter was launched in Abuja Nigeria with an inaugural meeting held on the 3rd of October 2009, at Chida International Hotels, Abuja.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. John Alfa of National Assembly Clinic and co-chaired by Prof Cyril Usifoh, immediate past Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin. The keynote lecture on the role of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research in developing country was delivered by Ezenduka Charles of Health Policy Research, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. The guest lecture on economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals was given by Dr AC Oparah, Secretary General, West African College of Pharmacists. A paper was also presented on the Organization and activities of ISPOR Nigeria by Tony Waka UDEZI, an ISPOR  international fellowship award winner and a lecturer at the University of Benin.
